Local Burnley based veteran organisation Healthier Heroes who work to overcome social isolation, homelessness and improve mental health within the Veteran community have been recognised with an invitation to attend a special reception at 10 Downing Street.
Invited by Burnley and Padiham’s Member of Parliament Antony Higginbotham, Managing Director Andrew Powell, who is an infantry ex-Army Colour Sergeant with a successful 16-year career and experience of multiple conflicts, travelled to London to attend the event and speak about the work that takes place at Healthier Heroes.
Speaking about the nomination Antony Higginbotham MP said:
I know how much Andy and all the team do at Healthier Heroes in Burnley. That’s why I was only too happy to nominate them for recognition at Number 10. The work they do to support the veteran community within the whole of our borough is just fantastic.
The community they have, the support they provide, and the armed forces events they hold are second to none. They should be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved since starting out only a few years ago. And I want to say a massive well done to them!
Commenting on his visit Andy Powell said:
I really enjoyed the visit to No10 as it was a great opportunity to meet other veterans’ services as well as those we have worked with over the years but never had the chance to meet in person.
It was lovely to be recognised for the work Healthier Heroes does for veterans and the armed forces community across the northwest. Big thanks to Antony for arranging it for us to attend.
