Burnley’s brand-new purpose built cinema has officially opened on the new Pioneer Place development. A ceremony attended by Burnley Borough Council, Lancashire County Council and local business leaders saw the official ribbon cutting followed by a premiere of The Miracle Club starring Maggie Smith and Laura Linney.
Flanked by Stabucks, Nandos, Icaro Lounge and Heavenly Desserts it brings a new dimension to Burnley town centre, mixing retail with leisure.
With laser projection and digital audio across all seven screens, a licensed bar, and a premium option for plush sofas and armchairs, this new cinema will offer both Hollywood and Bollywood pictures at unrivalled prices.
As an inclusive cinema, they will also offer community afternoon screenings, weekly autism-friendly screenings in a more relaxed setting, weekly hard-of-hearing screenings and a hugely popular student ticket night, with a two for one offer on a Thursday.
Commenting on the opening Burnley and Padiham's MP Antony Higginbotham said:
Burnley town centre was absolutely buzzing at the official opening of Reel Cinema at Pioneer Place!
This is a project I've been working on with so many partners, and it's amazing to see it finally open. More than a decade in the making, Pioneer Place is part of our town centre regeneration and transformation, and will help us welcome thousands more people to the town throughout the week and weekend.
A brilliant evening - I'd highly recommend you go down to see for yourself.
Founder of REEL Cinemas K.C. Suri said:
REEL Cinemas has been serving the local community in and around Burnley for over ten years, and while we will be sad to say ‘goodbye’ to our current location at Manchester Road we are very much looking forward to moving into our brand new home in the centre of town, especially at a time when films such as ‘Barbie’, ‘Oppenheimer’ and Disney/Pixar’s ‘Elemental’ have shown that a trip to your local cinema is once again a hugely popular choice amongst people of all ages.
Director of REEL Cinemas Sunil Suri added
This new REEL Cinema furtherreinforces our commitment to the people of Burnley, and our ambition to bring the luxury cinema-going experience to audiences outside of the UK’s major cities, without the high admission price that usually accompanies it. We are looking forward to introducing customers to our new cinema over the coming weeks and months, and are confident that the autumn and winter release schedule – which currently includes such films as the return of Kenneth Branagh’s Poirot in ‘A Haunting In Venice’, ‘Trolls Band Together’, ‘Dune Part Two’ and ‘Wonka” - offers something for everyone.
