Antony Higginbotham, Member of Parliament for Burnley and Padiham spoke at the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce this week.
The event, hosted by the conglomerate of locally based firms, involved the presentation of the Lancashire 2050 Strategic Framework, and the proposed Lancashire Combined County Authority.
The event also involved an overview of the Lancashire Local Skills Improvement Plan, and the various ways in which local businesses can help shape the future of education, skills and training in the region.
Participating in a Q&A session with businesses Antony answered questions relating to the local economy, the taxation system, the developing relationship between the private and public sectors, as well as more specific cases of fraud and planning permission.
Speaking after the event Antony Higginbtoham MP said:
Since day one I’ve been a strong advocate for our business community. They employ our families, our friends and our neighbours.
Working with them we can create the dynamic, high wage economy we all want to see.
And so it was brilliant to speak at the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce about all the fantastic work taking place to push Burnley and Padiham forward. I want to thank all those in attendance. I’ll continue to raise our interests in Parliament.
The MP also attended the lunch reception after the presentations, speaking directly to the leading figures of these regional organisations. One attendee, a constituent of Burnley, said:
Antony has always been a champion of business. He works tirelessly to create a vibrant local economy, managing to secure huge investments through the Levelling Up Fund, as well as always being accessible to businesses.
