It was fantastic to see that work is well underway to transform Newtown Mill into the heart of UCLan's expanded University campus - right here in Burnley!
As part of the £20 million Levelling Up Fund that was secured from Government, the old mill is to be redeveloped to create our very own University quarter - increasing the skills and opportunities on offer for local people. And it was a pleasure to meet with Russ and the team who are bringing the building back to life.
This is another part of my mission to level up our area - making sure that we turn our borough into a leader in technology education - retaining the skills and knowledge for our younger generations to be able to build a better Burnley and Padiham. The site is to be fully operational by next year!
