Parliamentary recesses are always a good time for me to get out and about, using the time I would otherwise spend in Westminster to instead speak to residents. For me, that’s the best part of the job.
As many residents will remember, I have been running pop-up supermarket surgeries since I was elected, and last summer I added to this with surgeries right across the borough, ensuring I was as accessible as possible and in convenient locations. Through that, I was able to meet so many people and it’s something I’ve continued since then.
This summer, I’m keeping that going but adding to it through a series of ‘Coffee and cake’ meetings.
I’ll provide the tea, coffee, and something sweet, and I’m encouraging every resident who wants to have a chat to pop along to see me. This can be to discuss a specific issue I might be able to help with; or just to come and say hello. And as with last year, no appointment is needed for these.
If any resident wants to see me but can’t make one of these, I have a number of appointment-based surgeries running too, which can be booked by calling my team on 01282 969377.
