Commenting on the start of work taking place at Pioneer Place Antony Higginbotham MP said:
"It's brilliant to see work begin at Pioneer Place today! This £23 million investment will see the site developed into a brand new state-of-the-art leisure complex which will totally transform this part of Burnley Town Centre.
New retail and leisure units, plus a 7 screen cinema, with Reel Cinema moving into the heart of the town centre, will bring more choice for residents and drive footfall into the town to boost our local economy.
For years the site has been left undeveloped with plans for major development sitting on the shelf. But that’s now no longer the case after funding has been secured in partnership with Burnley Borough Council, Lancashire County Council and the Government's "Getting Building Fund" where I've lobbied Ministers hard.
It’s exactly the type of change that I have been campaigning for since I was elected and I'm delighted to see it moving forward. Again our borough is receiving the focus that it deserves!
