Gyms, nail bars, swimming pools and tattoo parlours have been among the places still closed in most of the UK but the recent announcement from the Government will see beauticians, nail salons and tattooists able to re-open from Monday, with indoor gyms, swimming pools, sports facilities and leisure centres able to reopen from the 25th July.
However strict social distancing guidelines have been issued, including limiting the number of people allowed in at any one time, the spacing of gym equipment, floor markings and customers being encouraged to shower and change at home.
Welcoming the news Antony Higginbotham MP says,
“Over recent weeks many people have been in touch with me about the re-opening of these businesses and I've been lobbying the Government continuously on their behalf, including the Sports Minister to get our gyms, swimming pools and leisure centres re-opened. We’ve made major progress and as we start to see these close contact businesses re-open we need to stay safe and follow the guidance.”
However, there will still be some restrictions, particularly on beauty salons, which will not be allowed to do any treatments on the face given the higher risk.
The Government is also engaging with sporting bodies to restart grassroots football and other non-contact sports as soon as possible.
