Commenting Antony Higginbotham MP said:
“I think it’s really important that young people are exposed to how our parliamentary democracy works.
It’s why I’ve been running mock Parliaments in our schools and why I’d encourage any local organisation who wants to secure funding for this type of project to be in touch with me.
I can only nominate one project so would be more than happy to hear from those interested.”
The grant can be used to fund art and education projects and activities which improve the understanding of democracy including but not limited to:
- Heritage projects, including working with local libraires and archives
- Filmmaking and film screening
- Digital art
- Literature and reading groups
- Cultural events and festivals
- creative writing
- faith based activities
- Supporting UK Parliament Week
This Speaker’s Art Fund Grants round will be open for applications from 10th July until 24th August. However, please allow a minimum of six weeks between submitting your application and the start date of your project start date to allow for processing.
