The owner of Haffners Pies has welcomed local Member of Parliament Antony Higginbotham to the Burnley based bakery to see the process of making the famous pies up close.
Ted Cockett, who last month was recognised in a special Downing Street reception extended an invitation to Burnley’s MP for him to see how the pies are made and to speak about his future plans for the business.
Touring the facility Antony was able to speak with long time staff and see just how Haffners manage to create their distinctive pie crust which thousands in Burnley enjoy on a weekly basis.
Commenting after the visit Antony said:
Haffners Pies are one of those businesses that everybody in Burnley knows and loves. And there’s a reason for that! Because they're genuinely one of the best pie makers in the country. It's all in the crust.
It was brilliant to visit to speak with the staff and owner Ted Cockett about the future of the business and what comes next for this iconic local company.
Promoting our local businesses is what any MP worth his salt should be doing. But that job is made so much easier when we've got so many amazing local businesses. Ones that I never tire of shouting about when I’m down in Westminster!
