Ukraine's ambassador to the UK received a standing ovation in parliament today.
Every MP in the House of Commons, including the Prime Minister, rose to their feet and started applauding after Speaker Lindsay Hoyle revealed that Vadym Prystaiko, the Ukrainian Ambassador was in the gallery to watch Prime Minister's Questions.
Commenting Antony Higginbotham MP for Burnley and Padiham said:
Today in the Commons every MP stood and applauded the Ukrainian Ambassador who was sat in the viewing gallery. This is the first time I've witnessed a round of applause as it's not normally allowed in Parliament. But it's clear that we stand firmly behind Ukraine at this difficult hour. The Prime Minister then confirmed he'd spoken with President Zelensky again this morning to discuss the lethal and non-lethal aide that Ukraine needs right now. And we are continuing to step up and provide it. It came as the UN General Assembly voted with an unprecedented majority to condemn the actions of Russia and demand an immediate stop to the conflict. The UK stands with Ukraine.
