- Two schoolchildren win Antony Higginbotham’s Christmas Card competition.
- Lucy Brady, a year 9 pupil at Broadfield Specialist School and Archie Williamson, a year 4 pupil at St John’s Primary School in Cliviger have both won the competition
After receiving well over one and half thousand entries from local schoolchildren in his yearly Christmas card design competition, Burnley and Padiham MP Antony Higginbotham has unveiled the winning designs for his official card this year.
Speaking about the competition Antony said:
The response to this competition gets better every year. I’ve had so many entries flooding into my office from schoolchildren across our borough. It’s a great way to showcase the creativity of our young people and I really hope everyone enjoyed taking part.
Lucy Brady, a year 9 pupil at Broadfield Specialist School and Archie Williamson, a year 4 pupil at St John’s Primary School in Cliviger have both won the competition which will see Antony’s Christmas card split between the two designs.
Both winners received a Parliamentary goodie bag from Antony containing House of Commons Christmas chocolate, a Parliamentary notebook or bear and Parliamentary stationary, in addition to blank copies of their card design to send out to their friends and family.
Commenting on the winners Antony said,
Once again I’ve seen so many brilliant designs which goes to show the amazing creative talent we have across all of Burnley and Padiham.
Whilst the sheer number of entries made picking a winner a difficult task, two definitely stood out. Archie’s drawing of Bertie Bee and Lucy’s teddy bear design are just fantastic and they should both be really proud of themselves.
Their designs will go right across the country this Christmas, including to the Sandringham estate where His Majesty the King is spending Christmas. He too will be able to see the talent we have in Burnley and Padiham. I’d like to say a massive thank you to all the schools who participated, and for making this year even better than last.
The winning designs will now be used by Antony as his official Christmas card which will be sent to more than 1000 people, including people across the borough and Westminster, with a card going to the Prime Minister and His Majesty the King.
