Local MP Antony Higginbotham spoke in Prime Minister’s Questions this week to reaffirm his commitment to improve further education for young people within Burnley and Padiham.
In doing so he mentioned the efforts of Burnley College in driving forward the opportunities available to young people in our Borough.
In May of this year Burnley College Sixth Form Centre was ranked as the best in the country by the government with a 99.8% A Level pass rate and a 100% Advanced Vocational pass rate for the sixteenth consecutive year. Ofsted also ranked the college as 'outstanding'.
On the back of this Burnley College has experienced year on year growth in admissions and is looking to expand, with plans to further increase the number of students it is able to accommodate.
Commenting Antony Higginbotham said:
It was brilliant to get the support of the Prime Minister for the proposed expansion of Burnley College and the high level of education that is being provided there. It's essential that our local young people are equipped with the skills we need in the future - education for the 21st century and not the 20th century. By continuing to invest in facilities, delivering a college that teaches skills from engineering and robotics to clean engines and drone technology, we can do exactly that.
