Member of Parliament for Burnley and Padiham, Antony Higginbotham, joined the St George's Day Celebrations this weekend in Towneley Park alongside Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson.
Organised by the Burnley and Pendle Scouts, the event saw more than 400 scouts parade from the car park on the old Towneley High School towards the Hall. Complimented by a brass band, full families turned out to see the Squirrels, Cubs, Beavers and Scouts, as well as all the adult volunteers take part in celebrating the patron saint of England.
Commenting Antony Higginbotham MP said:
It was brilliant to once again join the Burnley & Pendle Scouts District for their annual St George's Day parade in Towneley Park.
I’m incredibly proud to be English and really appreciated the time and effort that went into putting this parade together.
In total there was over 400 scouts of all ages covering the Squirrels, Cubs, Beavers and Scouts, as well as all the adult volunteers. A number of people got long service awards, recognising the ongoing commitment they give to the Scouts movement, and young people locally. Well done to all involved.
This was one of many events held by the Scouts throughout the year. If you, or someone you know might be interested in joining, or learning a bit more, take a look at their website by visiting www.burnleyandpendlescouts.org.uk
