Antony Higginbotham used the Opposition Day Debate on Economic Support for areas facing additional covid-19 restrictions to outline his commitment to lobby on behalf of the businesses of Burnley and Padiham.

Speaking in the chamber he said:

I say to all the businesses in Burnley and Padiham - I am here to lobby for you.

Labour ignored the North both in Government and in opposition - that's why I was elected to represent you. Because I promised never again to allow our borough to languish as they allowed. I promised to level up! And that is exactly what I remain focused on.

I will never stop lobbying Government, publicly and privately to ensure they understand our local economy and understand the support that we need here.

Labour's divisive attempts to pit North v South, Lancashire v Manchester are dangerous and typical of a party that has lost the argument.
